Vision

As a first grade teacher, I spend hours each day teaching children to read.  The actual process of learning to read can often be frustrating and hard for my students.  One of my biggest passions is helping my students not just learn to read, but LOVE to read.  I started P.A.L.S. because I wanted to create a safe, fun place for students to do nothing else but have fun reading.  With the partnership of Johnson High School and Dawson's sixth graders, the younger students gain a mentor not only in reading, but also in life!  These reading P.A.L.S. pass on their love for literacy and also help express the importance of books in their academic future.

We spend this hour after school doing absolutely nothing but reading, and the smiles are endless!  If you walk into a P.A.L.S. meeting you'll see students light up and laugh out loud as they read together.  This love will hopefully carry on into their school day and years into the future!

With Love,
Ms. Hagler
